Email Providers

Bring your own email provider. Dextel sends workflow emails, inbox replies, reminders, invites and AI-agent emails through it, tracks delivery events, and — for sub-accounts — receives replies straight into the Inbox.

How it works

  • Agency integration (Agency → Integrations → Email Service) is outbound only. It sends user invites and password resets, and is the fallback sender for every sub-account that has no integration of its own.
  • Sub-account integration (Settings → Integrations → Email Integration) sends from the sub-account's own domain and can also receive: replies become Inbox conversations and fire the Contact Replied — Email workflow trigger.
  • Delivery events (delivered, opened, clicked, bounced, complained) feed the Email Event trigger and unsubscribe contacts automatically after a hard bounce or spam complaint.
  • Without any integration, mail goes out through the Dextel platform sender — fine for testing, but you'll want your own domain for deliverability and branding.

Receiving address and threading

Inbound mail is received at the From address you send from, and Dextel keeps replies threaded with the original message. The inbound MX record routes all mail for that domain to your provider, so if you already receive mail there (Google Workspace, Outlook), send from an address on a subdomain such as hello@mail.yourdomain.com.

The four steps

Every provider guide follows the same shape, matching the tabs in the Dextel modal:

  • 1. Credentials — create an API key (and for Mailgun / SES / SparkPost pick a region), enter your From address and name. Dextel validates the key against the provider before saving.
  • 2. Verify your domain — add the SPF / DKIM records the provider shows. Your From address must be on a verified domain or the provider rejects the send.
  • 3. Delivery events — paste the events webhook URL from Dextel into the provider; for Resend, SendGrid and Mailgun also paste the signing secret back into Dextel.
  • 4. Inbound (sub-accounts) — add the MX record for your sending domain, point the provider's inbound feature at the inbound URL (or click Register for Brevo / Mailjet / SparkPost), and send yourself a test.

Provider guides

  • Resend — Simple API with receiving built in. Delivery events and inbound mail share one Svix-signed webhook.
  • SendGrid — Twilio SendGrid. Signed Event Webhook for delivery events and Inbound Parse for replies.
  • Mailgun — Signed webhooks for delivery events and Routes that forward inbound mail to Dextel.
  • Postmark — Fast transactional delivery. Unsigned webhooks (the private URL token authenticates them) and an inbound message stream.
  • Amazon SES — Lowest cost at scale. Delivery events and inbound mail reach Dextel through SNS HTTPS subscriptions that Dextel confirms automatically.
  • Brevo — Formerly Sendinblue. Unsigned webhooks; Dextel creates the inbound parsing route for you through the API.
  • Mailjet — Send API v3.1 with event notifications; the Parse API (inbound) is created for you by Dextel and needs a paid plan.
  • SparkPost — Bird SparkPost. Event webhooks authenticated by the URL token; inbound domain and relay webhook created for you by Dextel.
  • SMTP — Send through any mail server — Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho or your hosting provider — with a server address and a login. Outbound only: no delivery events, no inbound.
